South Jersey Police Investigate Wild Crime Spree Involving Stolen Car

Multiple police departments in South Jersey are investigating a two-day crime spree that involved a car stolen out of Atlantic City, authorities said.

The first incident took place at 8:21 a.m. Monday at Garden State Fuels in West Atlantic City. a young male driver of the stolen vehicle, a 2013 Grey Honda CRV, left without paying for gas, Egg Harbor Township police said.

The next incident took place at 3:36 p.m, Monday at Gorilla Vapes on the Black Horse Pike. Three young females entered the store, stole merchandise and took the tip jar, police said. Egg Harbor Township Officer Tahsin Chowdhury located the stolen vehicle westbound on the Black Horse Pike. The driver of the stolen vehicle saw officers and allegedly fled the area recklessly, on the shoulder at a high rate of speed, police said. Officers lost contact with the vehicle. Hamilton Township police attempted to stop the same vehicle but also lost contact with it when it got onto the Atlantic City Expressway. 

The stolen vehicle was also involved in a theft at Target in Mays Landing and a theft of gas in Pleasantville, also on Monday, police said.

At 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday, police reportedly spotted the stolen car near a Walmart store. The vehicle was eventually located by Officer Nathan Lahr parked in the law enforcement parking space at Walmart. Lehr was approaching the vehicle when the driver immediately fled crashing into the patrol car, police said. The stolen vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed on Old Egg Harbor Road in the direction of Pleasantville.

Occupants of the stolen vehicle also were involved in a strong-arm robbery in Atlantic City on Tuesday before the vehicle was found abandoned at 5:12 p.m. in Atlantic City, police said.

These cases are being investigated by Detective Paul Janetta of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau.
